Taken during a trip to the city of Nyala (population: 2.8m) in Darfur, Sudan. The gender-based violence NGO I was co-directing at the time provided training and educational resources for Darfuri leaders and community members regarding domestic violence prevention. I conducted field research and documented every day life in Darfur as a reference for a graphic booklet and poster series I was developing.  The poster series was posted in public places around the city, and the graphic booklet was disseminated to leaders of camps for internally displaced people in Nyala.
